Set Your Sail

Truth.  This was not the original title to my blog and part of this blog has been deleted because it just wasn’t right.  Writers block, editing, starting over from the beginning. UGH!

Those that are close to me know that I am fighting my own battles, spiritual and otherwise.  So now, I will be transparent with you.  I AM under spirtual attack. When I write my blogs, I am not excluding myself from the rest of you.  I am a part of you and a part of the story.  Yes, I am my own worst critic, I am my own demise to my future.  At times, I hate what I see in the mirror.  Just like many of you, I check my social media to find out about others and what’s happening in their life.  Most of the time it’s a wonderful tool to have, other times it can be devastating to the heart. Daily your mind is being fed evidence that no one really cares how or what YOU are doing. Relatabe?  Many of you are in the same boat that I am, and you just don’t know how to jump ship.

Which way are your sails headed?

Jim Rohn quote

Appearing to be all put together on the outside, but on the inside, people are dying a slow death. Face to face, social media, not being a part of the “circle of friends”, being excluded from family, feeling rejected, ignored, left out, these are a few examples of how the world treats others.  As we have all seen, the suicide rate is climbing in the world. (See below).  Depression, in all it’s phases is REAL, and we contribute to others mental well being by our social status.  All the memes and videos that get posted are getting out of control.  Pick up the phone people.  CALL don’t text, or email.  GO visit people at their homes, get out from behind the mask of social media and quit letting the memes express how you feel.  Get out in the world and make a difference.  How many more lives have to be gone before we wake up and realize what is happening?

As I was listening to Jim Rohn speak on youtube, this quote really hit me…“It is the set of the sails, not the direction of the wind, that determines which way you go.”  How I set my sail will be in the direction of my talents and gifts from God. One thing that ALL humans have in common…we all need and want to be loved and accepted for who we are as human beings and where our sail is heading in life.

I don’t have the answer any more than you or the next person on earth. What I do know is that I am a woman of faith. I am a daughter of the highest King and I am loved and loaded with many gifts and talents that God desires me to explore, grow and share with others in this life.  The same goes for you!  You are loved and loaded with special gifts and talents that God gave you, go explore and have fun with it!

Talent does not dictate God’s love for you, nor for anyone else.  As one may appear to have a talent or gift that you like, try it out yourself, if it works then great, if not, you tried.  Move on to the next until you find your passion, that my friend, is your purpose.

Remember the journey is meant to be exploring, learning and growing your talents and loving along the way. As you set your sail for the journey, no one can rob you of the joy and peace along the way unless you allow them. If they come alongside you with encouragement and support great, if not, then that’s the season God had them in your life for, accept it, learn from it and move on. Continue to move forward step by step trusting that God is preparing you for something greater than you could ever imagine. When others do not agree with your journey, trust this, you are never going in the wrong direction when you follow Gods plan.

No one on earth is perfect. But we can be Christ-like and do as Jesus said.  Love one another as I have loved you. (John 13: 34, John, John 15:9, 15:12, 1 John 3:11).  Be intentional. Go back to the basics of life, good morals, values, and a heart that is pure. (A great song by 4HIM – listen HERE)

Today, I deactivated my facebook, only until I can pull my pictures off and then it will be deleted.  I don’t care who shares, likes, or follows me.  I follow God and He not only likes me, He LOVES me, FOLLOWS me, SHARES me, and CARRIES me.

Set your sail toward your goal,  your dream,

and God will provide the direction of the wind.

You are loved unconditionally by our incredible Father and you are loaded with many talents and gifts, evolve into the man or woman God created you to be and embrace YOU!

James 1:6 “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.”

May you be covered in His Garment of Grace,

    1. I understand and while it was a very hard decision to make I’m glad I did it. I still have a long way to go in relinquishing social media but I know I’m headed in the right direction. I’ll be praying for you! 🙏
