“A picture is worth a thousand words”

Which words are they speaking, how do we know what’s the truth, and what isn’t?

Society has set such a standard of what we are supposed to live up to that it’s almost, no, not almost, IT IS impossible to live up to.

Interpretation of the perception of a photo, be it on Facebook, Twitter, or any other social media, your neighbor, your friends, a word spoken, or even a word written, (such as this blog), how do we, as a society, comprehend the meanings behind each of these actions without being judgmental.

Interpretation is the action of explaining the meaning of something, perception is a way of regarding or understanding; a mental impression of something.

When we try to explain something (give our interpretation) to another person, sometimes the words do not flow as we hope or as we intended, or a photo doesn’t appear to be innocent, leaving the other possibly hurt or misinformed.  Before we speak of our perception (mental impression) of the action, (words or photos) we, as the receiving party would be wise to pause and take a deep breath. Ensure what we are hearing or seeing is correct, repeat what we heard, or review what we saw, and attempt to purify our conscious of thoughts that may be misunderstood.  Many hearts would be in a much more encouraging place if this world would grasp this concept and potentially prevent judgment by the one who is perceiving.

Realization point.  We do not all act, feel, look, receive, hear, or speak the same way.  Stop and think before you speak out of judgment.

If you can be intentional, you can create, if you can create,

your actions become your reality!

When posting photos on social media, or making comments/statements, are we (you and myself), as the poster, giving the correct interpretation of what your life “looks like?”  I did a little research on social media, look at the findings (just a few bullet points from 2016*):

  • The internet has 17 billion users
  • There are 3 billion active-social media users
  • 91% of retail brands use 2 or more social media channels
  • Internet users have an average of 54 social media accounts
  • Social media users have risen by 176 million in the last year
  • 1 million new active mobile social users are added every day. That’s 12 each second
  • Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp handle 60 billion messages a day

When I look at the statistics, I am amazed, inherently unable to comprehend the magnitude of how much social media impacts society.  I totally agree that social media is a good tool and resource to have, I am not discounting it by any means.  My reason for this information, our current and future generations have this misconstrued vision of what it means to be approved by others.  The judgment, for whatever reason that can be given, truth or not is simply wrong. If we all placed as much time and value in others, building them up instead of tearing them down as we do on social media giving the world a false sense of what our lives are like, this world might just become a better place.

If we all placed as much time and value with others in person, building them up instead of tearing them down, as we do on social media giving the world a false sense of what our lives appear like, this world has the ability to become a better place.

I must ask, what are we, as a society, driven by?  Outward appearances, achievements, perfect bodies, using the proper words according to what others think, or even displaying a lifestyle on social media that really is all a façade.

What “perception” are you giving others?

NO ONE’S LIFE ON SOCIAL MEDIA IS THAT PERFECT!

If you feel that you are not “up to par” by “standards” of your circle, re-evaluate your desires and passions, if necessary, adjust your circle.  You owe nothing to anyone, only yourself and God.   He selects those that are rejected by others.

“You are coming to Christ, who is the living cornerstone of God’s temple. He was rejected by people, but he was chosen by God for great honor”

1 Peter 2:4

Live your life, love your life and be happy with your life, write your story!

Investigate the connection between your mind and soul;

Dare to be different within your heart
